Hungarian-born Bea always treasured memories of her childhood in Europe. So when the time came for Bea and her love Amos to be married they escaped to The Four Seasons Gresham Palace in Budapest, Samsonite luggage in hand, for a romantic whirlwind of a wedding. They were followed by Australian photographer Brendan of Bear Deer Fox, who captured all the details of their stunning wedding on film, and Marcos Sanchez from Spain, who kept the couple laughing while capturing candids of intimate moments in between.
A few days before the wedding, Bea reconnected with childhood friends at Brody Writers Villa for a sit down lunch styled by Yvette Edwards. The girls donned custom dresses by Kelsey Genna and local designer Daarlana, and tried on sparkling jewelry by Rienne.
The afternoon passed quickly and lunch soon turned into a slumber party for the bride and her closest friends. The girls were pampered with hair styling by Teodora Geczi and makeup by Bogi as they sipped cocktails and whispered into the night...
The next day, the girls discovered that the best cure for pre-wedding jitters was to spend the morning poolside. The cerulean sparkles in the water enhanced the jewel-toned beauty of the city around them.
Meanwhile, the gents escaped to Brody Studios, a very bohemian private members club, for a night of smoking cigars, playing poker and enjoying the art of the Hungarian burlesque. Amos and his brothers enjoyed the house's famous 'Alchemist tastings' and learned the architecture of story-in-a-glass. The potions soon had their effect on the gentlemen and they fell asleep that night with the colors and sounds of Budapest dancing before their eyes.
The morning of the wedding, the sun rose bright and clear and the couple and their friends gathered on the rooftop of Fisherman's Bastion - an amazing castle with views of the glistening Danube River. Their ceremony was short but tender, witnessed in love by their closest friends. The bride wore a bespoke Kelsey Genna gown with chunky jewelry by designer Percossi Papi and feathery flowers by Gyenes Szilva, while her bridesmaids stood beside her in vibrant creations by Darlaana.
The panoramic views of Budapest on that day could not have appeared more stunning and, for Bea and Amos, their intimate rooftop wedding in the bride's favorite city felt like finally coming home.
Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed a private luncheon at the Fishermans Bastion, elegantly styled by Yvette Edwards. Originally, the bride and groom intended to serve a light meal of macerated berries and Palacsintas - a traditional Hungarian crepe - but the morning of the wedding Bea developed a sudden sweet tooth, and dropping by Auguszt Cukraszda for a chocolate cake was the decadent last-minute touch the reception needed.
Friends toasted the couple with champagne as they held each other close and danced under the light of crystal chandeliers.
When the day came to an end, the bride and groom were seen off by guests and enjoyed a ride at sunset down the river in a luxury speed boat by Dunarama. The last rays of sunlight glimmered on the surface of the Danube as they disappeared into the distance.
For the rest of the week, Bea and Amos spent their honeymoon exploring the city on their own - visiting the opera, drinking champagne on a castle balcony and even slipping in a day trip to Vienna to see the world famous concert halls. In such a romantic and old city, the couple never found a shortage of things to do or breathtaking views to take in. They even saved a considerable amount of money in such an economic European city that they tucked away for their next Well Travelled adventure...
For years to come, Bea and Amos will look back with fondness on their timeless Hungarian wedding. Of course, the wedding would not have been nearly as gorgeous without the collaboration of a number of fabulous vendors.
