Originally a haven for a bohemian surf crowd, Byron Bay has evolved into a laidback, colourful, eclectic community of Aussies that value creativity and diversity. Over the past few years, it has emerged as a must-visit destination for brides and grooms to-be and honeymooners who love its bright, clean beaches and unique local fare. Although it has gained a reputation as being a glamorous resort town for the jet-set, off-duty models and celeb weddings, it also has maintained the warmth of its humble roots and we found it not only chic, but charming! Byron is just one of many towns that sits on the border of QLD and NSW, making it easy to rent a car and hop between beach towns, taking time to also explore the rolling green hinterlands that encompass the coast.
Our favourite aspect of Byron Bay was discovering an endless number of inspired, artistic local vendors. It is a town that encourages entrepreneurialism, which meant that every restaurant, cafe, boutique, and gallery we visited possessed its own individual flair - making a day of shopping and dining more like a never-ending treasure hunt! The venues in Byron are equally unique and always warm, offering breezy temps and stunning sunsets to both summer and winter brides alike! We suggest taking advantage of the still balmy “off season” winter months to plan an affordable, gorgeous wedding with vendors who are willing to drive up and down the coast to assure you have access to the best resources the Bay has to offer. Many venues are equipped with their own set of pre-approved vendors for couples to select, but we have also gathered our list of the top-tier Byron Bay creatives we had the pleasure of working alongside during our time in our favourite Aussie town.
